What we think.......

Hey Sema I really enjoyed reading and doing this project with you. This was an amazing book to read and I was hoping that you thought it was amazing too. Working with you was great you are an awesome partner.  As I was reading this book I asked myself a  question several times, what would I do if I was Sara Fitzgerald?

Hey Sundus, it was awesome working with you as well. I tough it was an amazing book too, and I will attend to answer you question. If I was Sara Fitzgerald I would do the exact same thing. It is actually very hard to answer this question, but putting myself into Sara's shoes, I believe I would. I mean if you think about it, your child is battling with cancer and she is about to give up her life. I think i would make that decision because you see the child who will die in front of you but you aren't thinking about the other unborn child.

Well Sema you have a point, the unborn child inst there so it will be less complected to make that decision. A mother will do anything to save her child, so it makes sense why Sara agreed with the doctor and had another child who would be a donor for Kate.

Well I am glad that you agreed with me Sundus. I have a question for you now. If you were in Anna's position and you started to question your importance and  the value of your life, would you do the exact same thing and sue your family for the rights to your own body?

In a way I wouldn't but then again in a way I would Sema. If you truly think why is Anna being a donor it is to save her sister's life. I find that is so important and if i was her as long as I could i would give my parts to my sister. On the other hand if I am endangering my life i don't know how far I would go to help my sister at my expense. Would you ?

What I understand from your respond is that you are not  so sure Sundus. I personally would sue my parents for the rights of my own body if I was in the same situation with Anna. I mean, yes it is your sister and yes your saving her life, but I have a life as well. If my role to save my sister is affecting my life and standing in front of my dreams, then for the first time i would act selfish and go sue my parents.

I understand where you are coming from Sema. What you are saying is very true and I agree that you shouldn't let others come in the way of what you want to achieve in life, no matter who it is. As much as Anna would like to accomplish her dreams, it was Kate that asked her to sue her parents. It was honorable that Kate asked Anna to do this for her, causing Kate to sacrifice her own life. I was wondering if you were Kate would you sacrifice yourself so your little sister could live free?

Very good question Sundus. Kate was diagnosed with leukemia when she was only two years old and has been battling with this cancer for thirteen years. Her whole life depended on Anna's donation's. My sister has undergone extensive amount of surgeries just to save my life, and if she donates her kidney to me then she wont be able to continue her life the way she pleases and it will prevent her to achieve her dreams and this will my fault.

I feel you Sema. As brutal as it would be to make your sister through all this I think that i wouldn't ask my sister to do so. Suing  your own family can cause problems for her after Im gone. Her dreams can still be accomplished and I will also be with her which I know is very important to her.

That is a good point Sundus but it still did not change my opinion. Anna went over to Campbell Alexander to sue her parents for her body rights. I was wondering, if you would accept her case after hearing her life story even tough she has a sick sister and she is only thirteen years old?

Thats a good question Sema and i think i would if i was Campbell  Alexander i would accept her case because Campbell has epilepsy   and he knows how it feel to not have control over his own body. So he really understands her and can truly help her. So if i was him i would take her case.

\That a good point Sundus. I totally agree with you. If i was Campbell, i would accept her case. He is diagnosed with epilepsy and he can easily put himself into Anna's shoes. He knows what it feel's like to not have control  over his own body so he can understand Anna. He is a very successful Lawyer and he doesn't really about Anna's age.

I agree with you Sema. I am really enjoying this discussion about the book I only wanted to ask you a few more questions. Well actually I just would like to know your opinion on how you like the ending of the novel compared to the ending of the book. Which ending do you like more and why ??

This question makes me think a little. I really enjoyed watching the movie and also reading the book. No jokes, I literally cried to the ending of the movie. The novel's and the movie's conclusion is very different from each other. In the movie Kate dies and in the book Kate survives. I think i am going for the book's ending because, even though it still was sad, it was good to know Kate survived the cancer. Even tough Anna past away, she competed her mission as a donor child. She saved her sisters life which was very honorable of her. This is why I admire the ending of the book.

I disagree with you Sema. I find that the ending in the movies was a lot better because Kate was planing on dying but we didn't know that until Jesse said it at the trial. When Kate died it brought the family closer and everyone learn from her death. With Anna dead it was unexpected and over dramatic. It was a good ending don't get me wrong but there was a lot more emotion i find in the movie then in the book.

You have a very good point Sundus. You are right, Anna;s death was unexpected and over dramatic, but you know what my girl. Kate survived and if Anna did was alive she would of not donated her kidney ans her sister would die in front of her eyes. That's kind of brutal!! Anyway, now it's my turn. Do you think the movie should of mentioned the character Julia?

I find that the movie already had a lot of drama with just the family alone Sema. Even thought Julia made a really interesting addition to the novel and gave us a more background knowledge on Campbell i find that it would of been too much so it is good that they didn't mention it. One the other hand Jesse is direct family with Kate so i find in the movie they should of said more about Jesse's troubles, don't you???

I agree with you girll!! The movie had alot going on with Kate's situation and just the family itself . Julia would just be unnecessary. I don't think they should of said more about Jesse's troubles. He is a bad boy! He burned down a building in the book and he smokes and does drugs as well. Even tough he is a member of the family, i think, again, it would be too much if his troubles was mentioned. What do you think????????

That's so true Sema, both way i really enjoyed the book as well as the movie. I love when a book makes you question yourself. Its because of great book like these that we can have a good discussion like this. This blog assignment was very fun and a cool way to express our feelings about this book. Happy i shared this experience with you Sema !!

I like what you did there! This assignment was a really good way to discuss the questions that we were wondering. It also encouraged us to watch the movie after reading he book. It was great working with you Sundus!! You were a really good partner unlike other ones I had before you actually worked hard and completed you part of the assignment. So thank yo for that. I look forward to work with you again.
